Join the Houston Alumni Chapter for community and revelry at its annual Mardi Gras Meet Up on February 6, 2025 from 6 - 8 p.m. at The Boot in Houston. There is no cost to register, however kindly RSVP for headcount purposes. Food and drink are available for purchase from the venue. Feel free to wear your purple, green and gold!

Everyone has an opportunity to study abroad--come learn about yours!

Join us on February 20 from 12PM - 2PM in the Peace Quad to explore J-term, summer, semester and year long programs. You'll have the opportunity to chat with study abroad returnees, international exchange students from our partner universities abroad, directors of our Summer Faculty-Led programs, representatives from different study abroad program providers, and CIE staff.

Join CIE for a CUP OF CULTURE! The Culture Cup is an international and internationally minded lounge space for all students to join with FREE coffee and snacks. 

Our first session for Spring 2025 in the Multicultural Room of the Danna Center (first floor) will be on Wednesday, January 29 from 12PM - 2PM. Dr. Pablo Zavala and Dr. Diana Soto-Olson will be co-hosting a session on Mexico and Mexican culture; they'll also be happy to talk about their summer program in Mexico City.

All interested students are more than welcome to attend!

Elsie Miranda, D.Min., will speak on "From Lament to Hope: Healing and Renewal in the Parish Community." Dr. Miranda is the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at The Association of Theological Schools. Growing up Cuban American, she's deeply passionate about how faith connects with real-world social and political dynamics. Her work explores how cultural contexts shape people's experiences and their pursuit of peace and justice, both locally and globally. 

Healing through Accompaniment: Chaplaincy in Hospitals, Prisons, and Beyond

Rev. Jeannie Alexander, J.D, M.A., will speak on "Healing through Accompaniment: Chaplaincy in Hospitals, Prisons, and Beyond" Rev. Alexander is the executive director of No Exceptions Prison Collective. She is also a co-founding resident of Harriet Tubman House, an interfaith community dedicated to restorative practices in earth stewardship and human rights. She has served as the Head Chaplain at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution.
